Director of Federal Tax

Southwestern, Michigan 

Our client, a Fortune 200 manufacturer, is seeking a new Director of Federal Tax to join this world class tax department that is viewed by upper management as one of the highest performing departments in the company.  This is a lead tax operations role within this dynamic tax team and is an opportunity to have a broad role with a high level of responsibility over the federal income tax area.  We are seeking an individual who must have:

·        The ability to be responsible for all federal tax income issues including oversight of tax controversy (main point person with IRS), of tax compliance, tax accounting, tax research & planning and liaison with the Controller’s group on tax accounting issues.

·        Willingness to expand their international tax skills and be a part of tax brainstorming sessions on a regular basis with cross functional corporate staff and an outside tax advisor.

·        The ability to recruit, manage and mentor a team (progressive on campus hiring programs).

·        Opportunities to advance your career in the future, either in tax or out of tax.

·        The desire to enjoy a high quality of life in an outdoor oriented community.

Candidate Profile:

·        Minimum of 10-12 years of corporate tax experience overseeing a federal tax income tax group.  Prefer a combination of professional services and corporate in-house experience but not required.

·        Experience in managing and mentoring a team of people.

·        Ability to own this tax function and be a leader.

·       Good communication skills dealing with other tax professionals as well as cross functional departments.
