Responsible for providing extensive, tax technical expertise in the international tax area. Tax Technical Manager will: (1) possess extensive technical tax knowledge and research capabilities, (2) ensure accurate and consistent application of the tax law or tax accounting rules in a major tax technical area, (3) thoroughly research complex tax positions, (4) review work papers and research memoranda prepared by directors, managers, and tax staff, (5) provide guidance to tax staff related to the manager’s area of expertise, and (6) leverage the technical expertise to planning opportunities, legislative and regulatory analysis and advocacy, tax compliance, and tax audits.
Responsibilities / Duties:
-Manage identification, development, and research of complex issues in the international tax area.
-Monitor and communicate emerging tax laws, legislation, and rulings; research, analyze, and quantify any tax impact to company; maintain strong knowledge of industry and business.
-Mentor tax professionals on tax technical matters.
-Assist International Tax Group in review of Forms 5471s, 8865s, 8858s, and 1118.
-Review work papers and memoranda prepared by directors, managers and tax staff on tax area of expertise.
-Identify, research, quantify, and effectively communicate tax treatment of reporting positions and planning strategies for assigned areas of responsibility; develop and maintain professional business relationships with the assigned business units or corporate functions.
-Prepare/review transactional analyses and documentation for tax reporting and audit defense.
-Other duties as assigned.
-Prepare and review complex corporate and partnership federal tax returns and schedule Ms.
-Prepare and review quarterly tax provisions, deferred taxes and financial statement disclosures.
-Assist with the five year plan analysis and other planning initiatives
-Identify process improvements, assist or lead the process development work programs, and implementing corporate tax software.
-Assist the Audit Group and International Tax Group in resolving miscellaneous federal, state and international audit inquiries.
-Assist or lead due diligence reviews for acquisitions and the integration of the acquisitions into the tax structure.
-Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration and 8 or more years of experience preferably with a large CPA firm/corporate tax department.
-Master’s degree in Tax or Accounting and/or CPA license highly preferred.
-Must have broad tax knowledge and deep technical expertise in international tax area.
-Able to research tax issues and positions within the scope of the specified function and have demonstrated experience reviewing and understanding research prepared by tax professionals.
-Ability to multi-task.
-Must possess excellent communication, writing, interpersonal, organization and problem solving skills.
-Strong commitment to deadline compliance.
-Strong MS Excel skills.
