Clarios is looking for a Domestic Tax Manager to become a key member of its developing Domestic tax team.  Reporting directly to the Domestic Senior Tax Manager, the Domestic Tax Manager will collaborate and advise on all aspects of Domestic tax, including but not limited to the Domestic income tax provision and Domestic tax compliance. This position will collaborate and work closely with the Clarios Treasury team, US Finance team, and indirectly support the Clarios Global Tax Reporting team. The role requires a general understanding of tax accounting in a multinational environment with U.S. federal, state, and basic international tax expertise. This role also demands demonstrable leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills, particularly given that this position has an integral role in relationship management with other key stakeholders.

 

Key Objective/Deliverables:

  • Lead the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual Domestic income tax provision computations; coordinate effective tax rate, uncertain tax positions and cash tax deliverables

  • Provide support in managing the relationships with the Global Tax Reporting team and external auditors; prepare and review quarterly audit PBC requests

  • Manage Domestic federal and state income tax compliance processes to ensure adherence to deadlines; review Domestic tax returns, tax payments, and claims for refund, with an eye towards completeness and accuracy both in the filings and the supporting documentation.

  • Understand the business and related tax matters on a comprehensive basis and demonstrate the ability to translate this knowledge into tax planning and forecasting

  • Support SOX compliance and documentation

  • Research Domestic tax-related issues and analyze the tax effects of proposed transactions, including reorganizations, acquisitions, and divestitures; draft supporting memoranda

  • Monitor and evaluate tax legislation and provide advice on tax issues; stay current with income tax accounting requirements and developments

  • Influence and manage income tax audits, appeals of tax assessments, and responses to federal and state taxing authority information requests and notices

  • Identify and implement control improvements, process efficiencies and data automation.

  • Assist in the development of Junior Domestic tax team members

  • Support Domestic Senior Tax Manager and Domestic Tax Director in Domestic tax planning/strategy initiatives and analysis

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7+ years income tax accounting and Domestic tax compliance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • General understanding of tax accounting concepts under ASC 740

  • Ability to lead and work in a team-oriented environment

  • Proactive in seeking opportunities to assist others with various tax projects

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced tax department which values motivated team members who successfully navigate multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to communicate technical issues to both tax and non-tax professionals

  • Proven analytical, organizational, documentation and self-management skills with a proactive mindset inherent throughout

  • Strong tax planning and research skills

  • Robust leadership skills

 

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience in Big 4 Public Accounting and multinational corporation

  • CPA or equivalent preferred

  • Experience with SAP, ONESOURCE Tax Provision, Corptax Compliance software and BNA/CCH research programs; Sage FAS knowledge a plus

 

Other Considerations:

  • Minimal travel

  • Overtime will be required at peak times
